It only effects certain people. From what I understand when there is a space somewhere in the path.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

@Malonn Lojack started it but it's far from what it would need to be. Another user was going to work on it but stopped mid way. Nothing more has been done about that, that I am aware of. Even if I experimented with it, I wouldn't until I could upgrade wxPython to something that 3.x uses. Pretty much 4.x until I would try it. I'd be shooting in the dark though.

@Langeston Okay updated my version to include the fix for the temp folder. It should work and provide you the updated ESL support and it shouldn't error when using a 7zip archive to install a mod. I am still seeing glitchy BAIN installs which is odd because I use the FOMOD code that the original author and Ganda updated. I don't quite know what's going on as I haven't touched that part of the code. You may find the need to use install missing or Anneal until that's all investigated. There may be a regression somewhere else.

Yes that is the version I have been working on to have improved ESL support. It should work fine for most people as it has most of the code the official version does. The new one is linked below but it only fixes an issue if you have a space in your temp folder. Otherwise it's probably not needed for most people.

@Langeston Mine does not have the fix for the space in the temp folder because it was being worked on. So if you don't need any FOMOD support BUT you do need the ESL support, then I'll post a new version with Utumno's fix. Utumno will have an updated official version once I have time to revise some things for him. However, I have communicated it may be a while before I can do that. He also made me a slave to interactive rebasing so I get pretty picky abut how it's done. I may not do all the Git things he may want but some are just too much a part of my process now. So I prefer to do it.

I won't have time to set up tests or minimal installers but commit d2482ed breaks non FOMOD installers. In short I can't get the BA2/BSA or the plugin to install consistently whether or not it's a FOMOD installer or non FOMOD installer. Also commit 176991c doesn't resolve the 7zip issue. It is the commit that introduces the regression for 7zip. So for now I'll be sticking to my version (which has the FOMOD support without the tweaks) until after the holidays. As I mentioned I'd rather focus on family right now anyway. However, it looks like Elminster is making more progress with TES3Edit so I may get sucked into that.

Correct, 307.2018 10 22 1913 has the ESL support the community asked about on the Nexus. However, it doesn't have the additional updates that Utumno (the current maintainer) has made. I usually only contribute record definitions. I added all the additional game modes (Skyrim, FNV, FO4,) with help from Valda and an old contributor Lojack. Originally there was just Oblivion and the original 13 records that were defined for Skyrim. Lojack helped with VMAD and it needs updated. I am usually the impatient one and want the tangible features (patchers) working. So I experimented with the patchers several years back and posted about it on the old Bethesda forums. CptMcSplody recently made some patcher updates which smoothed things out so the patchers I was experimenting with work better for Skyrim now. I also added the ESL support and made some other various updates. That's why the versions are different. The official ones are what Utumno has been linking. If you have bugs or he needs testing you will need to use his versions. I was working with his new code he updated to get things better in sync but it appears there are some differences of opinion that might cause an issue. To prevent any further issues or discontent I'm gonna take a break from things while I work out some details. Thought I'd mention it so there wasn't any confusion. Plus it's the holidays still until after the new year so probably best for me to focus on family anyway.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

As mentioned in the sticky posts on the Nexus we don't use NMM, MO2, or Vortex. It isn't that we are unwilling to help, I really don't know how to help configure a program we have never used.

The reason i asked is because the author of this mod said that Wrye bash doesn't see strings files. I downloaded it and installed it and it is correct. Refer to my previous post as I used official tools to rebuild all files and that did not resolve the error. The authors mod will reproduce the issue.

    [WIPz] Wrye Mash

This is the continuation topic for Yacoby's Wrye Mash Fork and Wrye threads Thread4 and Thread5. New release announcements will be posted here and this will be the main place to discuss problems with Mash. Manage Mod Files and Load List * Select load mods from a list that can be sorted by: File Name, Modification date, Size, Mod Author, Load Order, Selection State and file type (Esm/Esp). * Select mods by loads lists which you define. E.g., define a Bethesda Mods list, or an LGNPC or Astarsis Heads list. * Hide rarely used mods. (Yes, there's an Unhide command too!) * Delete and Duplicate Mods. * Edit file name, modification date, author, description and master list. * Automatically reset modification dates after file has been modified. (This substantially reduces doubling problems.) Manage Save Games * View a list of your save games sorted by: File Name, Save Name, Player Name, Current Cell, Load Status (see below). * Delete, Duplicate and Hide Save Games. * Edit file name, Save Name and master list. Reduce/Eliminate Doubling * See potential doubling before it happens. (Status boxes in save game and master lists.) * Automatically reset modification dates. * Update save game files to handle changes to the masters that it depends on and to the current load list. * Repair References in existing files. Browse Mod Documents * Browse documents for all mods with the [[#| Doc Browser]]. Bash and Mash Wrye Bash is the Oblivion version of Wrye Mash. While they have much of the same appearance and base functions, they tend to differ strongly in the special (right-click) functions. Generally speaking Bash is a bit more sophisticated and has some base features that have not been migrated back to Mash. OTOH, Mash is even more crucial for Morrowind than Bash is for Oblivion -- largely because of Mash's mod installation/removal features. Mash is no longer being updated actively by Wrye, Melchor, or Yacoby, but I will be working on it to see what I can improve on. Download: Wrye Mash Wrye Musings: Wrye Musings Readme: Wrye Mash Readme Installation: Wrye Mash Installation Note in particular that installation, while not hard, is not trivial. Just follow the directions and use your head, and you'll be fine. TODO: Update all HTML documents as they are now outdated.

@Utumno I know you have not had much time to work on things but someone reported that the strings files can't be found for a mod. So I tested it and I rebuilt the strings files and the archive and it still couldn't find them. And I use the official tools. The BA2 is formatted as "Name Name - Main.ba2" exactly like that. There is not a specific file that people use in other words people normally don't break up the archives into textures and interface and then main for the rest. How does wrye-bash look for the strings files for Skyrim, Skyrim SE, Fallout 4?

Please read the docs. We have no control over system issues. For over 6 years all tool authors, including xEdit and LOOT say don't install in Program files.

The stable build is the one from the second post. There haven't been other updates to the back end of things except for some experimentation with ESL flagged files. Nothing official.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

@acidblood719 Go to the second post, download 307.201807311531 and use that instead. If the error persists then please run Wrye Bash with the -d parameter. However, if you used the EXE installer it will have added shortcuts to the start menu that say they will run Wrye Bash in debug mode. That error log produced in Debug mode is better because it shows more information, specifically the version of Wrye Bash and which game you are using this with.

I apologize but I cant keep commenting on things that I have no control over. I didn't make the esl feature Bethesda did. In doing so there is no way to do what you ask. As always if you find someone to volunteer to make an skse plugin that saves the order of the plugins with a file name that matches the save, and python code to associate the output with the exact save so they match then have them submit a pull request.

So first yes the second list applies to only ESL flagged files. Two lists on the saves tab no. Makes no sense. You have to look at my example more closely. Let me quote Elminster. 00, 01, 02, FE000, 03, FE001, 04, FE002, FE003, 05, 06 So that is a valid load order. You and everyone keeps thinking in the old fashond way where you feel all mods load in some kind of sequential order according to what has been called the Prefix. 0100182F where 01 is the prefix. Any mod without the ESL flag gets a normal slot, and mod with the ESL flag gets a light slot. No way to reconstruct one list of how the game loaded the mods at run time and then take two lists and somehow guess as to the correct placement. I would have to check again but last time I looked when ESL files were introduced, the list of files was saved in alphabetical order. Which would make it even more difficult to figure out.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

The only reason I am not sure I can ever make sense of the esl section is because... Probably no way to convert this: To This: There is no data stored anywhere to know how to insert "SomeESLMod-ESM-Flagged.esp". How do we know that game had that while you were playing? Because of how Wrye Bash works though it is not a good idea to try and make it display the "FE 000" part anyway. Ignore that from the example because I wanted to show how the games sees that. ESL flag has nothing to do with load order. There is just too much code to change. To Wrye Bash the plugin list looks like this. Everything works the way it is right now with over 255 mods. My test environment with about 397-ish and make the bash patch just fine. xEdit didn't have that ability initially because it was designed around the idea of having 255 plugins max. Wrye Bash was never designed with that in mind. It was made to handle more the 255 plugins because it was going to merge them into the Bash Patch so all of the code knows what to do. Start messing with it and it will break all over the place. So really it needs to be something were you can let go of that "my save is healthy" feature because it's not really possible. If I just sort it according to plugins.txt then it would always be healthy unless you uninstalled a mod. That's not what the feature was designed to do.

Elminster is doing all the work on xEdit I'm just sitting back on awe and wonder of it all. He is now adding the ability to check for a new version and show the user when one is available. It just looks at the tag_name field as shown here. But not gonna try that just yet. I'm waiting to see how Elminster does it first, and I don't know what code is out there for that. But with comtypes I may not need other code. I just haven't looked into it yet. I'm just interested in the possibility.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

It is the correct logic to look at plugins.txt though alt3rnaty for the order of files. With the exception of the CCC and DLC. So to be honest I might be able to deal with the esl files in the save header, if we all cross our fingers. I'll make an attempt.
  22. Sharlikran

    Wrye Bash - All Games

The CBBE.esl file has the .esl extension so it has to go in the ESM block. Then ESM flagged files go there also. All .esp files can have an ESL flag and be sorted however you need among all the .esp files that don't have a flag. :hugs: basically how you are allowed to sort things is how it works.
  23. Sharlikran

    Wrye Bash - All Games

Now sorry if I'm seemingly abrasive alt3rnaty, not my intent. It's all good. The sorting on the mods tab is what it should be from what LOOT and xEdit are doing. Howeer, the save game header can't be used really. Because you can't pre determine how the game will load them 100%. The same as elminsters example. As the game looks at plugins.txt it just says, filename is Skyrim.esm full slot 00, SomePlugin.esp full slot 01, next is SomePlugin.esp with the ESL flag so Light slot FE 000, and so on.
  24. Sharlikran

    Wrye Bash - All Games

No the CCC can't be altered as that is provided by Bethesda, that would be about as bad as changing Skyrim.esm and it would be replaced with the next update to the creation club content. That's not needed. Files with the .esp extension that qualify to be merged into the bash patch like it would for original Skyrim should be given the ESL flag. Especially since the flag has noting to do with load order. Any files that sort among the ESM block have the ESM flag, so they have to be there anywy, or have the .esl extension and will be given the ESM flag at runtime even if not on disk.

    Wrye Bash - All Games

I'll leave my post as I had it. However, Wrye can no longer because of ESL flagged files display the files in the order they are used in the game. ESL has no effect on load order so the order of the files in the save header is useless and meaningless. It has not been suggested but before it is, I don't see the point of hiding them either. The docs can't say that for Skyrim SE and Fallout 4 it's useless. I guess it could. That's not a decision I want to make.
